This privacy notice explains what information may be processed when you use this website, why it is used, and the choices and rights available to you.

Information used to deliver and secure the site

When you visit the website, hosting and network infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include information such as your IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, request times and technical server or security logs.

This processing is separate from optional Google Analytics.

The purpose is to operate, deliver and secure the website.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests in operating and protecting the site.

Optional analytics

Soul of Waves uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only if you explicitly accept analytics.

Before you accept:

• Google Analytics is not loaded;
• no Google Analytics cookies are created by the site;
• no analytics data is sent to Google.

If you accept, GA4 may process information about how the website is used, including:

• pages viewed;
• interactions and events;
• browser and device information;
• approximate geographic information;
• pseudonymous identifiers stored in analytics cookies.

Google Analytics is configured with advertising-related consent denied. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled.

For visitors in the UK, EU and Switzerland, Google states that individual IP addresses are not logged or stored by Google Analytics. IP information is used at collection time to derive approximate geographic information and is then discarded before the analytics data is logged.

The lawful basis for this analytics processing is consent.

You can withdraw that consent at any time using Cookie settings in the website Footer.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

Depending on the nature of the message, this processing is based on legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and managing the project, or where applicable on compliance with legal obligations.

Who information may be shared with

Information may be processed by service providers required to operate the website, including:

• the website hosting/infrastructure provider, Bluehost;
• Google, if and only if analytics consent is granted.

Soul of Waves does not sell visitors' personal information.

International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where international transfers of personal information require safeguards, the relevant provider terms and legally recognised transfer mechanisms are used, such as adequacy arrangements or contractual safeguards.

For Google Analytics, Google's applicable data protection terms provide transfer safeguards for restricted transfers where required.

Retention

Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is processed.

For analytics, retention is controlled through the Google Analytics property settings and is reviewed so that event-level information is not kept longer than needed to understand website usage and trends.

Technical hosting/security logs are retained according to operational and security needs of the hosting service.

Email correspondence is retained only for as long as needed to deal with the message and any related legitimate or legal requirements.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict its processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent. These rights do not apply identically in every situation.

Where personal information is processed on the basis of legitimate interests, you may have the right to object to that processing.

Withdrawing analytics consent

You can change your analytics choice at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the Footer.

If analytics consent is withdrawn, Soul of Waves stops future analytics measurement, removes the known GA4 cookies used by this site where possible, and prevents GA4 from being initialized on subsequent page loads unless analytics is accepted again.

Complaints

You can raise privacy concerns with Soul of Waves first at ben@soulofwaves.net.

People in the UK also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

External services

The site contains links to external services including Spotify, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. They are ordinary external links, not embedded trackers on this site.

When you follow one of those links, that external service operates under its own privacy and cookie practices. Soul of Waves does not control those external sites.
